Football Season Review

№13: Burnley

Burnley had a frustrating season where they struggled for consistency and that ultimately their season was over by the end of February with no realistic chance of the play-offs or relegation. They enjoyed an excellent away record with 10 wins, two draws and 11 defeats. That number of away victories is one of the best in the club’s history. In previous season it has been Fortress Turf Moor but not in this campaign with just seven wins, nine draws and seven losses. Eddie Howe was able to get the best out of his side against the bigger teams but they were poor against a number of the division’s lesser outfits. Burnley were impressive in attack with Jay Rodriguez netting 21 times and Charlie Austin scoring on 17 occasions. They may have a fight to hold on to Rodriguez but the rest of the side are likely to remain so the Clarets may be able to build on their fine team spirit. Although they have an excellent attack, Burnley perhaps lack a decent winger and that may well be a priority for Howe if he has any summer money to spend.

Player of the Season: Jay Rodriguez
