Football Season Review

Expectations were low at the start of the campaign but Norwich stunned the footballing world by winning the title. Comfortably the best side in the division, Daniel Farke's team just clicked, and they made few changes to their starting eleven in the crucial months of February-April. Easily the success story of the Championship season was the signing of Teemu Pukki on a free transfer. The Finn weighed in with 29 league goals in a sensational campaign. The form of Marco Stiepermann and Emi Buendia in midfield was also crucial while Ben Godfrey impressed in defence. Tim Krul also played an important role in goal while numerous players stepped up from their usual levels to help out with the promotion bid. No doubt Norwich need further additions in the summer if they are to survive in the Premier League but the top flight never appeared to be in their thinking until late in the campaign and they have spent very little to get to the position they now find themselves in.
