Football Season Review

№12: Sheffield Wednesday

Sheffield Wednesday had a tough start to the campaign but ultimately finished it with plenty of optimism. Jos Luhukay lost his job midway through the season. Luhukay had fallen out with several players and was hardly a fans favourite and he left with his side in a lower mid-table position. Steve Bruce took over, but over a month after he was initially appointed due to a family holiday. However Bruce won over fans with an excellent start to life at Hillsborough. The Owls briefly flirted with the play-off spots under Bruce but that proved too much of an ask for them. The summer is likely to be vital for them. Few signings have been made in recent windows and Bruce will want to assemble a squad of his own now. Michael Hector was Wednesday player of the year thanks to some superb displays in defence. The Owls were hit repeatedly by injuries to players this season, just like last term and will hope for an injury-free campaign next time.
