Football Season Review

№14: Preston North End

Preston will have to regard their 2018-19 as another success. Not a fancied team they again made life difficult for the bigger clubs in the division. They briefly flirted with relegation in the early days of the season but really raised their game to move within touching distance of the play-offs. Alex Neil is proving to be an effective manager at Championship level and talk about a possible move to West Brom hit North End. But Neil then decided to stay at Preston and signed a new contract in a major boost to the side. Preston continue to monitor the lower leagues for youngsters with Jayden Stockley and Brad Potts two players who looked the part after coming in. Neil will no doubt scour the lower leagues and Ireland again for talent, two areas that Preston have recruited well of late. Their overall 14th position looks a little disappointing but they probably had a better season than that suggests. They will hope to believe in themselves more if they are to have a more promising campaign next season. Ben Davies took player of the season for another solid performance at the back.
