Football Season Review

№19: QPR

Another desperately poor season for QPR. Steve McClaren surprisingly came in for the axed Ian Holloway early last summer but did another poor job. McClaren's job was on the line early on after four straight defeats. He eventually turned things around for the rest of 2018 but they lost their way again in 2019. Rangers only won two league games in this calendar year so far with McClaren sacked. John Eustace took over as caretaker for the final month but picked up just one win. Mark Warburton has now been appointed as new boss and has work to do with a reliance on young players. Geoff Cameron, Tomer Hemed and Nahki Wells all impressed in loan spells at the club but have now returned to their parent clubs so there remains a huge deal of uncertainty over the players they have next season. They were never seriously in a relegation battle but this was another bleak campaign for Rangers and their fans. Ebere Eze did impress and there is pressure on young players to be immediately successful as they come into the side. Luke Freeman proved himself to be the club's player of the season by offering that bit of class absent from most other areas of the side.
