Football Season Review

№2: Sheffield United

Like Norwich, Sheffield United were not expected to make the Premier League but they had a marvellous season to finish 2nd. Chris Wilder proved himself to be an exceptional manager as he oversaw the success of his boyhood club. Wilder stuck religiously to a 3-5-2 system throughout the campaign and that worked. John Fleck was exceptional in midfield while Billy Sharp scored 24 goals for the campaign. Wilder was not scared to change his side, regularly swapping his starting eleven around in the closing stages. The Blades were formidable on home soil with 15 wins the best in the division. Few sides will relish making the trip to the old fashioned Bramall Lane next season in the Premier League. United will need to make signings over the summer if they are to survive though, given that promotion was most unexpected. United's success was achieved thanks mainly to their team spirit so Wilder will have to balance that off when he considers additions to his side.
