Football Season Review

Champions: Leeds United

Leeds secured promotion to the Premier League with the Championship title after years in the doldrums. The main reason for the Whites' success was boss Marcelo Bielsa. He has worked painstakingly to turn a similar squad from two seasons ago into promotion winners. He's been tactically spot on and is proving his status as one of the best managers in the world. The campaign was not without difficulty. Some of the away performances did not match home form, while the form in front of goal of striker Patrick Bamford was often indifferent. But Leeds were so well organised. Kalvin Phillips sitting in front of defence proved to be a vital player in Leeds' success while Ben White's loan arrival from Brighton proved to be inspired. It is already looking doubtful that Leeds will be able to bring White back for next season which will be a huge blow. Leeds probably need several players if they are to survive in the Premier League especially as last season's squad was fairly small. You imagine Bielsa will be able to get the best out of any players that do arrive at Elland Road though.
