Football Season Review

№5: Cardiff City

Cardiff achieved a rather unexpected play-off spot and gave it their all, winning the second leg at Fulham, before falling just short. Neil Warnock decided enough was enough and left the club in November after an indifferent start to the campaign. Ex-Millwall boss Neil Harris was appointed as replacement and he had an excellent season as he got the best out of the players. Cardiff found form at just the right time to enter the play-offs but they came unstuck against Fulham in the first leg, despite their brave second leg display. Cardiff had the top scoring substitutes in the league which emphasised how good their squad was. With that in mind it is difficult to find a player of the season as there was little to choose from between the players. Sean Morrison or Curtis Nelson were consistent at the back but everyone showed flashes. Cardiff will be well set for a promotion push next season. They should be able to add further class to the squad to go alongside the workmanlike players they have. They may not lose anyone so should be able to improve next season with Harris keen to take the club forward.

Player of the Season: Sean Morrison
