Football Season Review

Champions: Cardiff City

After years of failure and flattering to deceive Cardiff finally won promotion to the top flight. They were easily the best side in the division as they won the league by eight points, thanks largely to an excellent home record which saw them win 15 times. However Malky Mackay looks likely to have to make plenty of summer signings if they are to survive in the top flight. Cardiff have a solid squad but there are certainly question marks over the overall class of individual players. Striker Craig Bellamy struggled with fitness this year and he is a prime example. No single Cardiff player managed double figures this term which is a story in itself. Malky Mackay has really sorted out the defence this year with just 45 goals conceded (including only 15 on home soil). Mark Hudson was the side's best player and was missed when injury ruled him out. Cardiff's midfield was changed on numerous occasions throughout the season as Mackay opted to rotate and keep his squad fresh.
