Football Season Review

№18: Sheffield Wednesday

It was a peculiar season for Sheffield Wednesday who started well, then completely slumped, recovered briefly before doing just enough to seal their place in the Championship next term. There seemed to be a mixmash of ideas from Dave Jones with several players used throughout the season. Jermaine Johnson was undoubtedly the best and when he was on form he was often unplayable although he was fairly inconsistent. Jones played a series of loan players including Jay Bothroyd, Conor Wickham, Steve Howard and Stuart Holden with mixed results. Wednesday have not had a regular frontman of their own so that will be the priority for Jones in the summer. The Wednesday manager will be pushing for extra funds over the summer and will be hoping that with a few extra players can push at the other end of the table next term. Consistency in terms of both selection and results will be the Owls' aim next term.
