Football Season Review

№17: Middlesbrough

Another woeful season for Middlesbrough and one where they flirted with relegation. Jonathan Woodgate, a club legend from his playing days, was appointed new manager in the summer. He was given plenty of opportunities to get it right but Boro were languishing down the bottom for much of his time in charge. In the end Boro sacked Woodgate and went for Championship expert Neil Warnock eight games from the end. He kept them up although it was far from convincing football at any stage. Warnock will likely bring in plenty of players over the summer and change things around at Boro. Overall there was a lot of poor performances with Woodgate never seemingly getting the tactics right either. Utility player Jonny Howson was probably pick of the bunch while Ashley Fletcher and Britt Assombalonga showed their class up-front, but were not always given opportunities. There were also plenty of injuries throughout the campaign which did not help matters either.

Player of the Season: Jonny Howson
