Football Season Review

№8: Bristol City

Bristol City came close to making the play-offs after a pretty successful season. The one thing about their campaign though was their runs of form - and lack of. They were able to get into several winning sequences but then their form dipped and that ultimately cost them, finishing just short in 8th place. This was another campaign where Lee Johnson enhanced his reputation with the City boss getting the best out of his players. Johnson rotated his side fairly often and also played with different tactics and systems throughout the campaign. Andi Weimann appeared to be an important signing and both he and Famara Diedhiou, who was suspended for a lengthy spell at the start of the campaign, weighed in with goals amounting to double figures. City's midfield was another strength with Josh Brownhill taking player of the season, although team-mate Korey Smith was badly missed as he spent much of the campaign on the sidelines. You sense City may well need one or two more signings if they are to make a more serious promotion attempt next term.
