Football Season Review

№7: Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough missed out on the play-offs finishing 7th which considering their performances was something of a miracle. Boro were pretty poor all campaign but in Tony Pulis they have had a manager able to get the best out of his side and pick up wins where they have perhaps been undeserved. They will be devastated not to have made the top six having been there for much of the season, thanks largely to a miserly defence. They did fall away pretty woefully at the end of the season, that was the most disappointing thing for them. If rumours are to be believed Pulis is set to leave the club this summer so it could be an interesting few months of rebuilding at the Riverside Stadium. In addition to the defence, with Dael Fry impressive, goalkeeper Darren Randolph was also excellent and he picked up the club's player of the season award. Record signing Britt Assombalonga was underused but still managed to net 16 goals and if a new manager comes in that may well benefit him.
