Blackpool overperformed in their only season in the Premier League but there was nevertheless still that bitter disappointment as they lost at Manchester United on the final day of the season to confirm their relegation. The Seasiders came so close to a magic escape after a memorable season and at least still have the nucleus of their Premier League squad, although talisman Charlie Adam has departed for Liverpool and David Vaughan for Sunderland. Coming in, Barry Ferguson is a ready-made replacement for Adam while Kevin Phillips may have advancing years but still knows where the goal is. Manager Ian Holloway is a character with his side enjoying playing for him and he should get the best out of a young squad. Blackpool are not expected to challenge for the title but a top six finish is well within their grasp particular if they can keep playing with the same team spirit they have enjoyed in previous seasons.

Target

Top six although who knows what a Holloway side can achieve with Holloway’s “He who dares, wins” philosophy.
