A bizarre chain of events last term meant Mark Warburton lost his job as boss despite guiding the Bees to the play-offs. There was no doubt Brentford massively overachieved playing a settled line up with settled tactics. However the Griffin Park hierarchy opted for change bringing in Dutchman Marinus Dijkhuizen into the hot seat. It is a high risk approach, one that could work wonders or one that could ultimately be a disaster. Dijkhuizen has brought in plenty of top European talent including attackers Philipp Hofmann and Lasse Vibe and midfielders Josh McEachran and Konstantin Kerschbaumer. They may need some time to settle in and in McEachran's case he suffered a bad injury in pre-season to mean he may miss the first couple of months. Suddenly Brentford are not the underdogs anymore and that may upset the status at the club.

Target

The hierarchy will want automatic promotion. It may be a case of play-offs absolute best though.
