Ipswich's season finished in the lowest possible way as they lost to bitter rivals Norwich in the play-offs and it is now a question of how quickly they can get over that. That loss should not mask a fantastic season where they came so close to promotion. Mick McCarthy is now one of the longest serving managers in the country and he will be ready for another crack at making the top flight. He appears on paper to have signed well with Ryan Fraser and Brett Pitman from Bournemouth appearing to be cracking arrivals while the loan capture of Ainsley Maitland-Niles will raise a few arrivals. McCarthy is likely to stick with a 4-4-2 system which appeared to serve Ipswich so well last term. They have also done well to keep hold of last season's top scorer Daryl Murphy who scored 27 goals last term.

Target

McCarthy will be eyeing automatic promotion but with so much competition, play-offs are probably more of a realistic target.
