Cardiff did not have a good time of it last term under Russell Slade and at one stage, fans even chanted for his head even though he has only been at the club for a short time. The Bluebirds simply did not perform on a consistent basis and the challenge for Slade is to sort that out. It has been a fairly quiet summer in the transfer market but the signing of Sammy Ameobi on loan from Newcastle is an impressive one although on the minus side, Tom Adeyemi's loan move to Leeds is a disappointment. Cardiff's fans will want their side to be up there - and expect that. Playing at home will once again be important in front of such passionate fans. But there is a feeling that the Bluebirds are two or three players short of a genuine promotion challenge.
