Football Season Guide

Had Goztepe not managed to win last season's final fixture, they could have found themselves in the 1st league. No doubt that Goztepe disappointed the fans a lot in the past campaign. Between November & April, they could collect only 9 points in 18 games. Despite this poor run, they could manage to survive with the help of their latest efforts. Last season, they were unable to get enough performance from the foreign players except Beto, Gassama, Poko and Castro. Ahead of the new season, they tried to part the company with unwanted players, but their contracts are the biggest obstacles. While the board were trying to solve these problems, they failed to add some players from the coach’s transfer list. Since they are late, the fans are worried about the kick off of the new season. Looking at the arrivals, they signed Veli Cetin & Murat Paluli from non-Super League teams. Eren Derdiyok, who has not played well during the last two seasons, was also signed in from the title holders. It is the same story for Huesca loanee Serdar Gurler. So the fans are also not satisfied with the arrivals. They are also afraid of the possible departures of Poko and Gassama who offered good performances during the 2019 African Cup of Nations. In general, Goztepe do not look ready for the new season and it seems like tough days await coach Tamer Tuna.
