Last season, Konya recorded 17 draws in the league. Had they won two of them, they would have been competing in Europa League today. They offered the 3rd best defensive performance last campaign, but they should have scored more in order to reach their season goal. During the summer, the fans were expected to see some action in the transfer market, but they could just loan Riad Bajic in from Udinese. Besides that, they have seen the departures of Jahovic, Yatabare, Fofana and Traore. It is obvious that they are very short in the offence zone. The results of the friendly fixtures showed that they need to add two attackers and two offensive wingers at once, because they have failed to score any goals in those fixtures. On the other hand, they have managed to keep the whole backline along with the main keeper in the team, which is a big plus. Nejc Skubic, Ugur Demirok, Ali Turan, Ferhat Oztorun should be the coach’s favourite players in the defence. Besides them, Alper Uludag and Marin Anicic were signed in from Genclerbirligi and Astana respectively. The duo will give the coach great options in the long season. In the midfield, Jonsson, Jevtovic and Volkan will play for Konya again. Besides them, Hurtado and Milosevic decided to stay in the team, but they are not good enough to increase the team’s offensive efficiency. That is why they may have to struggle to create enough goal chances this season. Once again, Konya should be able to record lots of draws this season unless they bring some offensive minded players. If they do, they might finish in a higher place.

Target

The coach is hopeful to get a ticket to Europe, but anywhere in the top 8 should be welcomed. A good cup run would be ideal.
