It has been a disappointing season for Sivas as they offered a worse performance comparing to the previous campaign. In fact, they should have been thankful to their performance till the winter break as only 4 points separated them from the relegation zone. Ahead of the new season, the preparations in Netherlands have gone well as they have not suffered any defeated against Ajax and Vitesse, but their squad is absolutely short and lack quality as coach Riza Calimbay emphasized. During the summer transfer market, they lost Douglas who has been the most productive rigth-back in the Super League last season. They filled his role with Marcelo Goiano who has spent the last season in Braga as a regular. It is important that he has to offer the same effect with Douglas. Following the departures of Muhammet Demir & Diabate, Yatabare was signed in from Konya. Hugo Vieira was unable to play football in the last season because of a serious injury. It is not clear how he will perform this season. It seems like Kone will take the responsibility in the offence once again. Since they were one of the most conceding teams in the last season, most of the summer arrivals were done in the defence line. After Tolgahan Acar left, they added Samassa and Muammer Yildirim from Troyes and Kayseri respectively. The board also signed Caner Osmanpasa and Aaron Appindangoye in. Once again, Ziya and Ugur will be responsible at left back. These players are useful, but not enough. They need at least two more players for the backline. In fact, they need more players to the team as the coach has mentioned. In the midfield, it is good to see Hakan Arskan, Emre Kilinc and Ozer Hurmaci have stayed, but they just brought Cofie in to help them. At the moment, some youngsters were promoted from the reserve team, but they do not bring any quality. If they can manage to respond to the coach’s requests in the summer transfer market, they will probably spend a comfortable season.
