Football Season Guide

When 2020/21 season was over, Pendikspor were in the midtable of the 2nd league but they managed to promote to top level football in 2 years. They were so busy this summer in order to improve the team’s quality as much as possible. It will be their 1st experience along with coach Osman Ozkoylu at top level. In general, it is very difficult to catch a Super League team mentality in a short while for a team which was competing in the 2nd league two years ago but they have a great advantage at this point. Club president Murat Ozkaya is also a congressman of Galatasaray and owns the 1st league side Eyupspor. So, he has strong relationships experience and no financial problem. Ahead of the new season, their biggest problem will be the stadium issue. Their own stadium is still under maintenance and they wiill have to use another stadium early on. As expected, they parted company with some members of the last season’s squad. Most important departure is Regattin who has produced 13 goals & 12 assists. At center back, they decided to bring players who have experienced top level football before which is a very smart decision. Welinton, Tzavellas and Rassoul should build a quality wall for the newcomers. At left back, the fans will see new arrivals Emre & Sequeira but they look weak on the right as there is only 38-year-old Erdem now. The midfield is absolutely the weakest part of the team ahead of the new season. Gokcan, Hasan and Aosman stayed in the team from last season’s squad. Vukovic made his move from Hajduk Split and there are some players who returned from their loan periods. Especially, they lack quality and creativity in this area. Unlike the midfield, the offence line have several options. Last season’s 10-goal scorer Thuram is likely to lead up front again. Erencan, Mehmet Kaan and Gorkam will support him as young attackers. New arrival Halil Akbunar will bring experience and quality to the right flank but they look short on the left.
