Football Season Review

№21: Birmingham City

Birmingham were so close to the drop zone, scoring two goals late on at Bolton when trailing 2-0 on the last day of the campaign. That meant they stayed up by the skin of their teeth. It was their dreadful home record of just two victories, and none since October, that set them back and their nine victories away from home that got them out of jail. Off the field issues where owner Carson Yeung was jailed for tax evasion and little resolution on the club's sale affected them. Lee Clark had to rely on loan players that did not ultimately deliver and led to an outspoken outburst from captain Paul Robinson. Clark wore his heart on his sleeve throughout the campaign but it is clear that it will be a big summer for him, with hands still fairly tied by the off the field activities. Fans are beginning to lose their patience and Birmingham appear to be a club in crisis until they eventually taken over.
