Football Season Review

№15: Leeds United

A season of turmoil for Leeds not helped by a will they or won't they takeover of the club by Massimo Cellino. Brian McDermott was sacked once this season before being reinstated after pressure by fans but he has done nothing to suggest he deserves or will be at the club after the summer. Elland Road, so usually a fortress, was anything but this term with just nine wins, five draws and nine defeats. Leeds' senior players disappointed with the notable exception of Ross McCormack who was eventually handed the captain's armband during a season where he found the net a notable 29 goals. Particular lows were an FA Cup defeat at Rochdale and then a 6-0 defeat at Sheffield Wednesday the following weeks, Leeds' players letting down their fans on more than one occasion. McDermott's tactics, where he swapped his formation around on more than one occasion can also be called into question. Pre-season remains a very uncertain time as the new owner looks to restructure the club.
