Football Season Review

№4: QPR

QPR were promoted back to the top flight at the first time of asking but can consider themselves very fortunate indeed. QPR stuggled for goals in the regular season with just 60 one of the lowest in the top half of the Championship. Losing Charlie Austin, who had signed from Burnley, for a couple of months with a shoulder injury did not help but Austin in the end returned to net 20 goals in total. Their play-off final win over Derby perhaps summed up their season, a fine defensive display but little else as they held on with ten men to win courtesy of a last minute goal from Bobby Zamora. It is clear Harry Redknapp will need several signings if they are to compete in the Premier League but by hook or by crook he has completed his aim which should end the club's financial crisis. Rob Green, Richard Dunne and in particular midfielder Joey Barton all had outstanding seasons.

Player of the Season: Joey Barton
