Football Season Review

№11: Nottingham Forest

A bizarre season for Nottingham Forest which ended in failure despite so much optimism. Billy Davies was expected to challenge for promotion after a strong end to 2012-13 and being well backed in the transfer market. But injuries to a number of key players such as skipper Chris Cohen, midfielders Andy Reid and Henri Lansbury and new signing defenders Kelvin Wilson and Jack Hobbs left their season in disarray. Davies, whose off the field problems with the media and other members of staff, was sacked in March after a 5-0 defeat to bitter rivals Derby. Stuart Pearce will take charge in the summer but Gary Brazil did his best to raise spirits despite being severely hindered by injuries. Forest are set for a busy summer of change with Pearce bringing in players and selling others. They will also focus their attentions on bringing in the infrastructure to ensure their football on the field can be supported.
