Football Season Review

№22: Doncaster Rovers

Doncaster were relegated after a disastrous end to the campaign where they collected just one point from the last seven matches. After a good March it looked like Paul Dickov's side would comfortably avoid the drop but they lost their form at just the wrong time. They were also comfortably safe with 15 minutes to go of their final game of the season at Leicester, but they conceded and Birmingham scored twice in their match at Bolton to relegate them. Despite a marquee signing of former player Billy Sharp on loan from Southampton, Rovers struggled for goals all season. Their 39 was the worst in the entire division with just four goals for Sharp in half a season a real disappointment. Doncaster's away form also let them down with just two wins away from the Keepmoat Stadium all season. Doncaster appear to be a yo-yo club so if Dickov gets things right in the summer they can mount a bid to return.
