Football Season Review

№8: Norwich City

Norwich's 2016-17 season will go down as one of monumental disappointment. It initially appeared they would be good enough for a play-off spot at least having been relegated from the Premier League in the previous season. However a mid-season slump ended their charge and ultimately boss Alex Neil paid the price by losing his job. Norwich were excellent on home soil but away from home were very disappointing. At the end of the campaign they released several experienced, high earning players such as John Ruddy and Steven Whittaker. Yanic Wildschut failed to deliver despite a big-money move from Wigan in January and his own future is now in grave doubt. Alan Irvine was caretaker for the remaining month of the season and can be pleased with his efforts and the positive thing was Norwich did not give up and let their season fizzle out. Norwich have now gone for the German Michael Farke to lead their side next season and they will certainly expect a far better season. He will be charged with bringing in several new players in a bid to return to the Premier League and you get the impression that this summer could be a huge one in Norwich's recent history.
