Football Season Review

№24: Rotherham United

A truly horrendous campaign saw Rotherham relegated down to League One. The Millers were well adrift of safety and even 23rd place, that's how bad they were. They failed to win a single game on their travels too. After a dramatic great escape in the previous campaign under Neil Warnock, hopes were hardly high when Warnock decided against staying. Alan Stubbs had a nightmare start in charge of the club and he was soon axed. Then Kenny Jackett arrived and he too failed to deliver, lasting around a month before resigning. Paul Warne tried his best as he was surprisingly named caretaker manager for the rest of the season. By then the damage had been done and Rotherham had no hope of survival from around Christmas time such was their predicament. Their performances in the second half of the season offered little hope for the future. Despite seeing his beloved side to relegation, Warne was surprisingly appointed full time manager at the end of the season. It seems as if he needs a big clear out because the players on show really disappointed and proved they were a long way good enough to compete at this level.
