Football Season Review

№18: QPR

This was another abject season for QPR. Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink's difficult start to the campaign eventually led him to losing his job. Former QPR favourite Ian Holloway came in as replacement but really failed to do much better. An initial good start was followed by an awful run, then a good sequence before finally a poor finish to the campaign. Holloway did ensure high earning players were consigned to history and brought in his own man with the likes of Matt Smith and Luke Freeman arriving and making impressions. QPR's squad is still too big so it will be interesting to see who leaves over the summer. Holloway may also bring in several more names so it is likely to be another interesting summer at Loftus Road. QPR fans would dearly love some excitement during the season too as this was another damp squib. There were few players to emerge with much credit following another difficult campaign. Alex Smithies was player of the year following another outstanding campaign in goal but little to write home about for anyone else. Despite their lowly position, QPR were never in any kind of serious relegation battle this term.
