Football Season Review

№22: Wycombe Wanderers

Wycombe will consider themselves unfortunate not to avoid the drop after a stunning ending to the season in which they claimed five wins in eight games. The Chairboys will nevertheless be pleased with their progress following an abject start to the campaign. Gareth Ainsworth's men lost their first seven games and looked completely out of their depth. But since then they competed well and with a lot of bad luck going against them in terms of decisions, will feel aggrieved to have gone down having finished so well. Josh Knight was player of the season after an impressive loan spell for the club. Keeper David Stockdale also looked good having taken his chance when Ryan Allsop got injured while Uche Ikpeazu and Anis Mehmeti both proved to be decent signings for the Chairboys. Team spirit at the club remains exceptionally high with Gareth Ainsworth continuing to enjoy rave reviews as a manager. Wycombe will really feel they are in a good position to go straight back up given how well they finished the campaign.
