Football Season Review

№10: Birmingham City

Birmingham will be disappointed at their overall position but can reflect on a campaign of considerable improvement. They were in the top six for much of the season and looked like they would have a chance of a surprise play-off spot. But ultimately that task was too much and they fell away as the season wore on. Gary Rowett proved what a top manager he is and the Blues will now do well to hang on to him. He assembled a strong side and was happy to play the same side in games keeping a consistency in selection. Jon Toral was a very successful loan player. Birmingham surprised one or two teams too and their team spirit appeared excellent. They lacked quality though, especially in attack, and in the end ran out of legs. They probably need a more regular goalscorer up-front along with a few players throughout the side that can enhance the squad. There was less off the field hassle to talk of though and at last there are positive signs to talk of over St Andrew's for once.

Player of the Season: Jon Toral
