Football Season Review

№4: Hull City

It was a peculiar season for Hull. So good for long periods, especially at home where they lost just once and conceded only 12 times, they fell apart at times when the season wore on. Their major blip in March and April prevented automatic promotion but somehow they won promotion despite a poor second leg display against Derby in the play-off semi-finals. They were deserved winners against Sheffield Wednesday in the final and can now plan another season back in the top flight. Abel Hernandez was best player this season with 22 goals while Michael Dawson and Curtis Davies were pivotal figures at the back, and when they were missing through injury their absences were felt. There are plenty of issues to be resolved over the summer though. The future of both manager Steve Bruce and the ownership of the club are in doubt. Whatever happens they need to add more quality to the side as a few individuals have carried them for much of the season.

Player of the Season: Abel Hernandez
