Football Season Review

№7: Ipswich Town

It will go down as a season of disappointment for Ipswich. After such a strong campaign the one before where they made the play-offs, big things were expected of the Tractor Boys. But they lacked consistency for much of the season. In the end 7th is probably a good achievement but they were never realistically in the play-off hunt in the second half of the campaign. Daryl Murphy and David McGoldrick were bitterly disappointing in attack and were unable to recapture the form that helped them score bags of goals the previous season. Injury for much of the season to highly-rated youngster Teddy Bishop did not help while loan signing from Bournemouth Ryan Fraser's absence also due to injury was felt. Bartosz Bialkowski came into the side in goal and had a marvellous campaign, being judged player of the season. Ipswich know they need to add a few players over the summer but they should have stability with Mick McCarthy continuing in the hotseat.
