Football Season Review

№20: Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace will have to regard this campaign as a success as they survived – although it will not be regarded as one of their finest in their history. They secured safety on the penultimate day with a 1-1 draw at Hull after another turbulent season. George Burley started at Selhurst Park but was replaced midway through the season by the untried or tested former player Dougie Freedman. Palace had an excellent home record with 11 wins at Selhurst Park which just about made up for a truly dreadful time on their travels where just the one victory was forthcoming. Neil Danns was the mainstay of the Palace side but the midfielder is believed to on his way out of the club. With key man Darren Ambrose missing games due to niggling injury problems, Freedman probably needs to go on spending spree this summer – if finances allow.
