Football Season Review

№2: Norwich City

Norwich City secured a fairytale second consecutive promotion into the Premier League, sneaking into second place on the home straight and joining champions Queens Park Rangers in the top flight for 2011/12. Canaries boss Paul Lambert has done a terrific job at Carrow Road, revitalising the Norfolk club and providing the impetus for them to secure successive promotions from League One and the Championship. Whilst on paper the Canaries’ squad lacks superstars they make up for their lack of egos with an enviable team spirit and a never-say-die attitude which has seen them score countless injury-time winners and equalisers over the course of the campaign. Talisman and captain, Grant Holt has been a revelation in the final third, finishing the campaign as the club’s 23-goal leading scorer and surpassing the expectations of the majority of supporters and pundits alike. The Canaries have played an attractive brand of football over the course of the season but at times have looked shakey at the back. Lambert will have to address this over the summer in order to ensure the Norfolk side have a shot at maintaining their Premier League status.
