Football Season Review

№9: Blackburn Rovers

Despite having a transfer embargo on their heads, this was a pretty good season for Blackburn who also reached the FA Cup quarter-final. Rovers finished 9th in the end and briefly flirted with the play-offs. As has been in recent seasons, their big strength was in attack with Jordan Rhodes and Rudy Gestede both enjoying impressive seasons. The pair scored 43 times between them with Gestede hitting 22 of them and manager Gary Bowyer will do well to keep hold of the pair in the summer. Injuries in their defence became a bit of an annoyance throughout the campaign and that was maybe one reason they could not make the play-offs in the end. After several difficult seasons though, this was certainly a step in the right direct for Blackburn and their long suffering fans. They will need to resolve their off the field financial situation in particular in terms of financial fair play and transfer business in and out is likely to decide whether they will be any kind of threat next term.

Player of the Season: Rudy Gestede
