Football Season Review

№18: Bolton Wanderers

Not the best of seasons for Bolton but they can be grateful to Neil Lennon for keeping them in the division. Dougie Freedman left the club after a difficult start to the campaign and Lennon was given the task of rebuilding the club. He did that with the help of experienced former players Eidur Gudjohnsen and Emile Heskey, who were both surprise signings but did the job. A reasonable enough home record with nine wins was ultimately enough for Wanderers to survive quite comfortably in the end by 10 points. Bolton know they need some more excitement next season so it is a big summer for Lennon to bring in several new players of his own choosing. In terms of positives this term, Tim Ream's displays at the back were very notable and he was named club player of the year for the second season running. Adam Le Fondre came in on loan from Cardiff and his eight goals were also pretty vital, although it remains to be seen whether Bolton will keep hold of him.
