Football Season Review

№24: Blackpool

This was as about as bleak a season as it could possibly get for Blackpool. Off the field issues involving the owners proved costly throughout. They started the campaign with a lack of players or pre-season under new boss Jose Riga and could not buy a win. He quickly left and was replaced by Lee Clark but with a lack of quality and heart any bid to avoid the drop was in vain from a really early stage. Blackpool finished the season rock bottom, 20 points from safety, and that was made worse by their final game of the campaign abandoned following a pitch invasion. Clark then resigned and it appears as Blackpool's troubles will continue into next term in League One with once again a lack of players or direction. The Seasiders failed to win a single away game all season, scoring just 36 goals. They played plenty of youngsters but it is likely to be a completely different line-up once again for Blackpool whose problems are showing no signs of ending any time soon.
