Football Season Review

№20: Brighton and Hove Albion

Brighton just about survived following a desperately disappointing season. Sami Hyypia proved he could not cut the mustard as the Seagulls boss in an abysmal few months at the helm. He was replaced by Chris Hughton who was at least able to organise his side defensively. However lack of goals were a big problem throughout, just 44 all campaign in the league and only 18 away from home. They were poor in attack and a centre back Lewis Dunk was their top scorer with seven goals. Just two points in the last seven matches suggest that if the season was a little longer Brighton would have been relegated. It is clear that Hughton has plenty of work to do over the summer in order to turn the club around and provide any kind of optimism for next season. Given how well Brighton have done in previous seasons, it would suggest their current crop of players may have taken the club as far as they can.
