Football Season Review

№11: Cardiff City

It's been a pretty shocking campaign for Cardiff who never once threatened any kind of play-off bid. They sacked Ole Gunnar Solksjaer following a pretty poor start to the campaign and replacement Russell Slade has fared little better with even chants for him to leave by supporters of the club. The end position of 11th is dramatically below the expectations of the club and after a fair few comings and goings over the last couple of years, Cardiff need some stability to help them get back up the Premier League. They lost their place from the top flight last term and found the Championship very difficult going initially and that form continued throughout the campaign. Much will now depend on whether they can hang on to highly-rated keeper David Marshall, whose injury mid-season set Cardiff back again. Cardiff in the end won 10 games at home so form at a notoriously hostile venue was not bad but nine draws away from home was too many with just six victories.
